This one is Mourvdre from vines planted in the 1920s in Contra Costa County, own rooted and dry farmed in the deep sand that let these old plantings survive a century of phylloxera, neglect and suburban sprawl. Passalacqua spent years as director of winemaking at Turley while building Sandlands entirely around forgotten head trained vineyards like this one, and his
