This is an original 1893 etching (individually hand painted) of the Franciscan Monastery in the ancient town of Emmaus, located approximately 7 miles northwest of Jerusalem. Tradition identifies this town as the place where Jesus appeared before two of his followers after his resurrection (Luke 24: 13 27).
