This is a very nice service used example of a Remington New Model Army Percussion Revolver, with a lovely patina from age and use. It apparently did have the barrel replaced at some point, most likely at arsenal during the war. The grips definitely look to be original, and look to have been repaired at some point, with lanyard hole around the frame filled in on the bottom. Like all New Models, it is a . 44 caliber
