With only a 32 1 2" heavily rifled barrel, this was originally issued as a "Jaeger Rifle" to Austrian elite troops. It appears to be a conversion from Flintlock when it may well have been a smooth bore musket, or constructed as such with older Flintlock parts. The front barrel band is iron, while the trigger guard, butt plate, and side plate are brass. The original "V" back sight is unfortunately absent, but it does
