This is a very nice all original example of a German Model 40 Steel helmet, as issued to the Kriegsmarine (Navy). This stamped sheet steel construction helmet retains 80% of its original lightly textured panzergrau (armored gray) paint, with overall wear consistent with service in the field. There are no major dents or areas of oxidation. These helmets were used by members of the Kstenartillerie (coastal artillery)
