This is a very nice set of Civil War Federal officer shoulder boards for the rank of Captain, indicated by the double bars at each end. The color inside the border is blue, the color indicating Infantry during the Civil War era and later. It is hand embroidered, made from wool fabric and bullion thread surrounding a stiff cheesecloth core. The boards measure 3 x 1. The boards are in rough shape with one board missing
