This is an excellent example of the classic later pattern HJ fahrtenmesser (trip knife), complete with its original scabbard. It was produced by the rare maker Carl Rudolf Jacobs, Fabrik feiner Stahlwaren (Factory of Fine Steel Goods), based in the Grfrath district of Solingen, the legendary "City of Blades" in Western Germany. Founded in 1912 and registered with Solingen Authorities in 1930, this made knives,
