Wonderfully primitive in the manner of the carving

I love the combination of furniture and undertaking

but for me of course it is the incredible faces and postures and gestures of these men (and dog) that I love

The giraffe has jointed legs as well as nails for horns and tail (painted with the same pattern detail as the rest of him)

Wonderful Old Scratch Made Elaborately Painted Tin House Still Bank with Wild Chimneys doll cradle I've been wanting to findCollector dealer Pat Hatch, well known for her extraordinary black doll collection, has been selling some small things at an antiques shop I heavily frequent in Maine; I scooped up several pieces from her this week, including this scratch made, hand painted tin house (and bank with a coin slot at the top of one chimney and underside that slides open) along with a carved wooden cottage also listed today. You know I love a piece of folk art
