It has definitely seen some use--the wood is well worn and it is missing a few bristles at the head and along one side

and the surface of the back is pretty gorgeous too

textures make this feel as much like sculpture as a functional object

The watercolored rounds representing progressively diminished color intensities are paper cutouts, pasted down in a lightly pencil drawn grid. Along the right edge are a couple of comments, written in pencilat least one of them by EW Hall him or herself, who initials the comment, noting too much black, not enough blue. Looks like Hall received
