On each message is the sound of that person dying, with the future date and time that their death will occur. Can they work out the mystery of these messages in time to prevent their deaths? In the sequel 'One Missed Call 2' (2005), people continue to receive mysterious phone calls, but this time it's the ringtone which proves deadly.
