There is a small hole in the top of the wood and another directly below it in the bottom

which from what I understand was created to mimic the gold-embossed calf-skin wall coverings from Europe

though I don't know for complete certain

but was used by at least two different students

Yellow Bearded Pale Iris, Delicate Antique Watercolor antique seashell engraving and this drawingI will never tire of antique folk art watercolors of flowers largely painted by women and girls and a lot about close looking, and as was explicitly noted on a watercolor of an iris by a different maker that I listed last week, in many cases these were of flowers women "raised" themselves several points of pride at once. I really like the attention paid to the petals and "beard" on this single bloom, treated a bit like a scientific specimen! Paper 7 5
