I believe the hand-written text at upper left of this drawing reads "coiffure de opium Perle"--meaning opium pearl hairstyle--and indeed it is the combination of lace and pearls on her head
The back of the wood was painted a mellow gold it looks like over red
houses and a lighthouse dotting the shore
(Clark was son of landscape painter Walter Clark and Jennifer Woodruff Clark

Battered Old Khaki American Red Cross Drawstring Bag, Presumed WW1 solitair I believe the hand-written textAs I've often written, I've got a special love for a red cross, which I find the most perfect logo ever designed, formally and symbolically. And it seems quite right, formally and metaphorically, on a much battered khaki drawstring bag, WW1 I believe. (I'm not 100% sure about that, but a little research seems to indicate that the specific red cross patch here is WW1 rather than WW2.) Looks like a combination of little moth bites and a couple of larger
