There looks to have been a frog on the scabbard for a long period of time

This is a beautiful condition Army Officer's Dagger, produced by the well known Solingen based firm P. D. Lneschloss. complete with its original scabbard, hanger, and portepee knot. The fittings on this dagger look to be plated alloy, probably zinc or aluminum, and the finish is very well retained, so we cannot say for certain their composition. The pommel is in very good condition, showing just a bit of wear through
