It seems to me that there are many ways to read this wonderfully executed antique graphite drawing of mother and pups trying to survive a horrible flood (including perhaps as a commentary on the endless demands of motherhood)--and it feels super resonant at the (rather apocalyptic feeling) present moment as we confront one "inundation" after another

The bottom still has its red felt attached

and with a wonderful presence

I also like that it can be displayed sitting up

C. 1920 30s Zanesville I believe, and in great shape; just lovely. 5 1 4" in diameter x 2 1 8" t. Some irregularity to the glazing as is always the case with these, all to the good I think, and some staining and crazing to the interior. No chips or cracks.
