There is one split toward to bottom of the slide top lid and another on the bottom of the box but it remains very sturdy and sound

and this great big ear with raised outline

the cards and the blocks are in great condition

I do like just looking at these a bundle of possibilities; words and numbers yet to be written. I come across these now and then but I've never seen ones wrapped in gold, which makes them extra lovely and special feeling. c. 1870s. Approx 6 7 16" long. Sold as a set. In excellent condition.
