1943 and was assigned to the 759th Bombardment Squadron a an Aerial Gunner aboard a B-24 Liberator Th' Brokan Dollar and flew numerous bombing missions over Italy and Austria  during WWII and was awarded the Air Medal for actions on April 23rd

Research indicates this would be for the 3rd (Queen Elizabeth) Guards Grenadiers Regiment

the liner itself has the Insignia of the 3rd Armored Division
