it could either be hung on the wall or used as a rug--I'd especially love it as the first thing one crosses walking in the door

I think it is possible that this is a fly whisk or a horsetail whisk brush

Miniature Early 19th Century Pencil Sketch of Girl with Flowers and Bird dirndl There is a fair amountThis is one of a handful of to my eye completely charming miniature drawings I purchased together, dating to the first or second quarter of the 19th Century, and thought likely to be of Virginia origin. It's tiny, but what a lot of wonderful detail and patten is packed in, down to her the girl's terrific ringlets, necklace, and hair wreath, and the teeny tiny bird perched on top of flower stalk in front of her. Super! 2 5 8" x 2 3 8" and in great
