The puppets are made of painted wood

but often one sees porcelain manufactured in one country and decorated in another

There is wear around the edges on the exterior box

Hand Painted Papier Mache Eggs - Set of Three collegia When I spotted this setI think these papier mache eggs are mini masterpieces, and really love whoever made them. I think the female nude is my favorite, wrapping around the sides of the egg and surrounded by flames! But that clown is pretty terrific too, wavering between happy and sad. And the blue egg with three leafy stalks topped with what look a little like pinecones (?) are a nice complement to the other two. Fun in a bowl, or displayed in egg cups, or I'd think thread
