Satisfying Minimalist 1989 Crock Study, Watercolor on Board gift for my husband Often one sees these bottleTo my eye this "crock study" quite transcends itself as a study (an art school exercise I might guess), and I'm really rather obsessed with it as very resolved feeling, minimalist sort of a painting, which manages to impart this large pottery crock with a wonderfully stoic sense of force and grandeur. The squareness of the bottom of the crock above what I take for the ledge of a table seems to strip it of illusionism and makes the painting itself a
