The original aircraft of the group were a mixture of Curtiss P-40 Warhawks from a batch of 50 sent to China for the AVG between January and June 1942

This is a substantial Pioneer type short Sword or Hanger, with a massive Saw Back to the blade. It is marked on the ricasso with a large interlocked A. T. R. emblem together with an FDZ Maker's mark and M on the top rib of the blade directly in from of the hand guard. The Hilt is all of brass and fitted with a "Stirrup" hilt single hand guard.
