This pair of pears--looking like maybe a Bartlett and and Anjou--completely fits the bill

with just a tiny bit of loss to the gilding around the rim

I believe there may be something carved in the bottom but I can't make it out if so

Klijn (1892-1961) was a Dutch drawer

The unfinished wood is very light in weight

Carved and Painted Seagull on Driftwood antique pocket frame This pair of pears--looking likeOne sees a fair number of seagulls on driftwood when poking around the coast of Maine, but this one struck me as quite lovely and nicely done, and definitely with some age to it. The gull is carved of wood, with the wings made individually and inserted into recesses carved in the body. The legs are steel wire, inserted into the driftwood, holding the gull firmly in place. Nice aging to the paint, and I think it's good from 360 degrees. Appriox 7 1 4"
