Strands of cotton yarn are sectioned off and wrapped with dye resistant thread and then dyed with indigo. After dying, the wrapped threads are removed to reveal the undyed section. The process then repeats several times, each time different sections of the yarn are wrapped. The result is a yarn with a wide variety of indigo gradation.
