Soft Landscape with Trees and Ruins, Antique Oil on Linen Painting antique insect drawing as the 25th state) dateNot a great masterpiece, but there is a very lovely softness and atmospheric ness (and an Arts & Crafts sort of feeling, too) about this oil on linen painting, which kept me returning to it when recently roaming around an antique shop in Maine, and compelled me to walk out the door with it! Quite serene, but I think one could also read a certain drama or implied narrative, with these green trees rising up from old brick ruins, like symbols of rebirth
