Description

The whole tin was painted a sort of brown-gray that is really lovely

Initialed with what looks like LSH on the underside

I believe the figure represented in Tasap (Tasaf)

but I have found no exact match for these and believe them to be quite an early deck

It features the head of Silenus (a drinking companion of Bacchus) on one side

Sculptural Old Iron Log Splitting Cones - Sold Individually antique school slate painting The whole tin was paintedI find these old cast iron log splitting cones really beautiful objects, with sculptural forms evocative of towers and rockets and all sorts of things, and with surfaces that show a great combination of gold and rust. And, they are might heavy, so could be used as doorstops or bookends or whatever. The one at left in first photo was made by Oregon, with a patent pending stamp in the opposite side; the one at right shows Patent No 4887753. Left: 6 1 4"
