perhaps making this little rattle as a gift for their child or grandchild

and I might think this photo was taken to commemorate her completion of an important exam

and must say that when I received it it was quite dusty

reminding one of a terrific expressionistic woodcut

Lovely Antique Four Drawer "Salesman Sample" Chest sloping lid 5" x 3"x 3"Not my expertise (what is, really?!), but with its clean lines, turned pulls, paneled sides, and gently rounded corners on the top, I think this tabletop chest is really beautiful, and useful for stashing all sorts of little ish things. My guess would be late 19th century, and I assume made as an apprentice piece or salesman sample as chests of this scale usually were.
