Salvador Dalí: Minos Le Cocu Magnifique and the Smithsonian American ArtDante's Divine Comedy, Illustrated by Salvador Dal This lithograph is from what is considered Salvador Dals most ambitious project, Dantes The Divine Comedy. Originally commissioned by the Italian government to celebrate the 700th anniversary of Dantes birth, the project was eventually abandoned by the Italians, Dali pressed forward over a ten year period to paint 100 original watercolors illustrating the epic poem and finally publishing the suite
