Constructed of blackened bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing central raised double Sig runes, set within a circular oak leaf wreath, the reverse bearing a raised number 4, overlaid by an inscription of FR TREUE DIENSTE IN DER SS (FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE IN THE SS), unmarked, measuring 38. 02 mm in diameter,
