TthaNárɛltthʼɛr, Our Dene Hero Nature Since the first edition wasWritten by Lucy Antsanen and illustrated by Jennifer Storm. TthaNrltthr was a brave young woman who managed to save herself from slavery, become an interpreter in York Factory, and finally make peace between the Dene and Cree Peoples. Every year, on February 5, we honour TthaNrltthr by wearing red, braiding hair, feasting, and singing songs of her story. TthaNrltthr is a Dene hero who inspires strength and courage to this day.
