Wessex - Long-sleeve T-shirt Hawker Tempest Army Air Corps and theWestland Wessex The Westland Wessex was a British development of the Sikorsky H 34 and first entered service with the Royal Navy in 1961. The type was later used by the Royal Air Force and a number of civilian versions were built. The Wessex was used for anti submarine warfare, but was better known for its role as a search and rescue helicopter. The HCC4 version was used on the Queen's Flight of the RAF to transport VIPs and members of the Royal
