An ovular badge constructed of gilded zink, the obverse centre bears the cut out image of a submarine, encompassed by a laurel wreath tied with ribbons topped by a German State Crown, the reverse is plain and bears a horizontal pinback with a flat catch, marked WH encompassed by an ovular border on the pin, measuring 30. 50 mm (w) x 30. 41 mm (h), weighing 6. 7 g, very fine.
