France, Ii Empire. A Military Medal (1852-1870) Newly Listed the reverse with a central(Mdaille Militaire). Instituted in 1852. In silver gilt with blue enamels, unmarked, measuring 26. 5 mm (w) x 46 mm (h) inclusive of its integral loop, extensive loss evident in the blue enamels on both centrepiece rings, traces of gilt remains on the obverse, large 35 mm (w) x 31. 3 mm (h) crown in silver with pinback affixed to its original ribbon, fine. Footnote: The Military Medal was instituted on January 22, 1852 by Napoleon III and awarded for
