Baden, Grand Duchy. A Silver Merit Medal consisting of a blue enamelled Romanian Cross with clusters of nine gilt rays in eac Lamb of Winnipeg(Silberne Verdienstmedaille). Instituted 30 September 1866 by Grand Duke Friedrich I. (1868 1881 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised leftward facing profile of Grand Duke Friedrich I, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a central inscription of FR VERDIENST (FOR SERVICE), within a circular oak leaf wreath, unmarked, measuring 40. 58 mm in diameter,
